Essential Oils We Use at The Hidden Studio

Curious about the essential oils we use at The Hidden Studio? You may smell a scent during shavasana or maybe experience a divine fragrance in our towelettes. These oils are nature’s potent gift. They are concentrated chemical compounds from plant extract used in aromatherapy and other modalities to support health and well-being. Each oil has its own unique properties and characteristics, and these oils are extracted from a variety of methods. Knowing the extraction method is very important because some oils are composed of synthetic fragments and not the actual essential oils. That being said, don’t be concerned if you see an essential oil combined with jojoba oil or coconut oil as these are carrier oils and this is a common practice since the actual essential oils are too strong to be used alone.

How to Use Essential Oils

There are multiple ways to incorporate these oils into your life. New and fun ideas are constantly being created but here are some common ways:

 

  • You could add a few drops to an oil diffuser or aroma lamp
  • Apply topically on the skin, but ensure you are using a carrier oil to dilute it
  • Use the oil to massage the scalp (lavender, sandalwood, chamomile)
  • Add a few drops to your vacuum bag to keep it smelling fresh 
  • Next time you take a bath add a few drops to the water
  • Inhale before bed to aid your sleep (lavender, jasmine, chamomile)
  • Your pet will thank you if you add a few drops on their fur to prevent ticks (oregano, thyme, citronella)
  • Citronella is a great oil to keep bugs away 
  • A few drops added to a spray bottle with water will give your home for a fresh scent
